Online Annual Meeting a Success
WKRECC’s Annual Members’ Meeting was held online on July 11 and more than 500 members registered.
West Kentucky RECC’s annual members’ meeting is a mid-July tradition, but this year, health concerns ruled out the usual large gathering. Instead, the co-op hosted its business meeting online and invited members to register at one of four drive-thru sites—Calloway County High School, Carlisle County High School, Graves County High School and Marshall County High School. The response from members was excellent, with about 520 members registered.
“This was a much safer option for our members given the health concerns in our communities right now,” said WKRECC President & CEO David Smart.
Members were encouraged to view the meeting live from this website. If you missed it, watch the recorded meeting by clicking the link below. The meeting began with a welcome from Vice President Benny Adair and recognition of his fellow board members and the co-op’s 2020 scholarship recipients.
WKRECC Attorney Greg Carter hosted the business meeting. Board Treasurer Bob Hargrove gave the 2019 Treasurer’s Report and Smart presented the President’s Report.
Four incumbent board members, Mike Burchett, District 1 (Calloway County), Kevin Crider, District 2 (Carlisle County), Mark Elliott, District 3 (Graves County), and Dennis Barnes, District 4 (Marshall County), were reelected to four-year terms with no opposition.
As part of the registration process, members also voted to approve updates to West Kentucky RECC’s Articles of Incorporation.
With no additional unfinished or new business, the business meeting was adjourned. Communications Coordinator Georgann Lookofsky closed the broadcast by explaining that everyone who registered was entered in a random drawing for door prizes and announcing the winners. Door prize winners include:
William Zornes Mike Nance
Keith Gibson David Wilkerson
Chris Wooley Sue Blakely
James Harrison James Burgess
William Gough Janet Thomason
Sandra Vaughn Diane Wilson
Larry Flood James McMillen
“Thanks to everyone who supported our effort to provide a safe, informative and inclusive meeting for our valued members,” said Smart.
